What are the advantages and disadvantages of pneumatic ball valves?

2024年01月29日

The pipeline of pneumatic ball valve is mainly used to cut off fast speed, distribute and change the direction of medium. Pneumatic ball valve is a new type of valve. So what are its advantages and disadvantages?

1. The fluid resistance is small, and its resistance coefficient is equal to that of a pipe segment of the same length.

2. Simple structure, small size, and light weight.

3. Tight and reliable, the sealing surface material of ball valves is widely made of plastic, with good sealing performance, and has also been widely used in vacuum systems.

4. Easy to operate, quick opening and closing, only need to rotate 90 ° from fully open to fully closed, making it convenient for remote control.

5. Easy to maintain, the pneumatic ball valve has a simple structure, and the sealing ring is generally movable, making disassembly and replacement relatively convenient.

6. When fully open or fully closed, the sealing surfaces of the ball and valve seat are isolated from the medium, and when the medium passes through, it will not cause erosion of the valve sealing surface.

7. Widely applicable, with diameters ranging from a few millimeters to several meters, suitable for applications from high vacuum to high pressure.

8. Because pneumatic ball valves use gas as the power source, typically at pressures of 0, 2-0, and 8MPa, they are relatively safe. If a pneumatic ball valve leaks, compared to hydraulic or electric valves, the gas can be directly discharged without polluting the environment, and it has higher safety.

9. Compared to manual and turbine ball valves, pneumatic ball valves can be configured with larger diameters. (Manual and turbine ball valves are generally below DN300 diameter, while pneumatic ball valves can reach DN1200 diameter.)

What are the advantages and disadvantages of pneumatic ball valves?

The disadvantages are as follows:

1. Its regulating performance is relatively poor compared to globe valves, especially pneumatic valves;

2. Because the main valve seat sealing ring material of pneumatic ball valves is polytetrafluoroethylene, it is inert to almost all chemicals. However, the physical properties of polytetrafluoroethylene, including its high coefficient of expansion, sensitivity to cold flow, and poor thermal conductivity, require that the design of valve seat seals must revolve around these characteristics.

When the sealing material becomes hard, the reliability of the seal is compromised. Moreover, polytetrafluoroethylene has a lower temperature resistance rating and can only be used below 180 ℃. Beyond this temperature, the sealing material will age. If you want to use it for a long time, it is generally recommended to use it at 120 ℃;
